Clariden Leu Launches Commodity Fund

A newly-launched sector-specific equity fund from Credit Suisse-owned Clariden Leu offers investors direct access to the currently hot commodities markets. The fund can also serve as an effective hedge against inflation risks, according to the firm. The commodity instruments fund uses equities to build a diversified portfolio across the value chain for raw materials mining and production. Its investment universe also extends to supply and service companies that are involved in or help finance the production of raw materials. The portfolio is rounded off by futures on liquid energy sources, metals and agricultural produce. The low and stable correlation between commodities and traditional investment classes means that the fund also offers protection against fluctuations in share prices and inflation risks. In addition, the fund offers currency-hedged unit classes (in euros and Swiss francs) and daily trading.
